My cardinals

Working in my computer room yesterday morning, I heard a familiar sound, the distinctive short chirp of the cardinal.  I swear to you a family of the flaming red birds has followed me from residence to residence.  I know.  That's a bit of a stretch, but I choose to believe it.  Funny how we can do that and make it work.  Believing something lovely never hurt a soul.  I know, too, that the female of the species does not sport the luscious scarlet, but I see her and her babies frolic and flash a red of their own.  Again, it's through my eyes, through my rose-colored glasses, so to speak, even more appropriate in this case.  We all know the scientific explanations and the actual reason I hear the chirping outside my front window every year, but why not swirl in a little something special, a little something lovely?  So yes, my cardinals have joined me once more in welcoming spring.  Oh yeah, I have the big head, Mother Nature.  One of your delicate creatures has chosen me.  Hmmmmmm, let me look around.  What else lovely can I believe?

  1. Nature is the most amazing thing! I believe it brings us closer to our spiritual side than anything else in this world. It is something that we can delight in daily ... almost a form of meditation with your eyes open! I am looking forward to following your blog! So fun!!

  2. Okay, now let me see if I can post a comment! The cardinals here all challenge the back window of our RV thinking they are seeing a rival! They fling themselves at the window, sit on the ladder (and poop on it) while they peck the window, and more. We have to clean the spit (do birds have spit) and poop off everything! Yes, they are beautiful, but they are a menace to our RV!!! LOL

  3. I am seeing all these pictures being painted right before my very eyes. Words are being splashed, brushed, stroked, dripped and flung onto the screen. Such beauty! Oh, and there it is, the sign that says: Artist at work. This is sooooooo you!

  6. That is so cute Ms. J! There is nothing wrong with feeling that those cardinals are your friends and follow you :) Nick and I are so excited to hang up our finch feeder and hummingbird feeder so our friends will come visit us too! This is kind of funny.. but in the summer, we take our Spice Finches in their cage and set the cage on the patio table in the sun. They talk to the other birds outside and the other birds come closer to check them out. It's so fun! Thanks for sharing :)
